Michele Mangani (b. 1966)
Sonata in D Minor for Clarinet and Piano (2017)
Anton Arensky (1861-1906)
Trio in D Minor for Violin, Cello and Piano, Opus 32
Sonata in D Minor for Clarinet and Piano (2017) is written by contemporary composer Michele Mangani (b. 1966). A clarinetist himself, Mangani has written extensively for the clarinet, bringing out the instrument's lyricism, virtuosity and rich palette of tonal colors.
Trio in D Minor for Violin, Cello and Piano, Opus 32 by Anton Arensky (1861-1906) is an ultra-Romantic piece that exudes melody, pathos, brilliant technique and beautiful sound combinations. The final movement pulls ideas from the lyrical first movement, the playful second and the elegiac third.
